Since Spring 2009, Hawaii Pacific University has been offering "Music Therapy: Theory and Practice", MUS1830, taught by Ms. Bonnie F. Chan, Board Certified Music Therapist. The class meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 8:35am to 9:30am. This is a 3-credit class, which students may transfer to music therapy degree courses currently available on the mainland upon the approval by the university they are transferring to. Sounding Joy Music Therapy, Inc. introduces "Music as Therapy" on-line courses taught by Dr. Arthur W. Harvey at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and the Kapiolani Community College. These courses are open to anybody, who desires to become knowledgeable about music therapy, learn a repertoire of music and processes for therapeutic use in a variety of settings, and get involved in actual therapeutic musical experiences.
